In Wilmington, Port City Signs & Graphics has had the privilege of playing a small but visible role in that evolution. As a Wilmington sign company rooted in this community, we have watched the skyline and streetscape shift over the years and have been grateful to contribute along the way.

A Quiet Presence Across Downtown

Over the years, our signage company has partnered with a wide range of downtown businesses and institutions, providing commercial signage that reflects both brand personality and Wilmington’s historic character.

We crafted the original signage for Circa 1922 and recently refreshed it, helping preserve a recognizable presence while giving it new life. We worked with Wicked Bull Trading Post to create bold storefront signage that fits naturally within Wilmington’s streetscape. And through our longstanding partnership with the Wilson Center, we have supported one of downtown’s most important cultural venues with exterior signage, wayfinding systems, and interior graphics that enhance the overall experience.

Each project is different. Each brand has its own personality. Our role is to ensure the signage feels authentic to the business while complementing the architectural integrity of downtown.

Supporting Growth Throughout Wilmington

While downtown is at the heart of our story, our commercial signage work extends throughout Wilmington and the surrounding region.

At ILM Airport, we provided signage to support a major construction and expansion effort, helping travelers navigate change while maintaining a strong, consistent brand presence. At Cape Fear Community College, we created vehicle wraps that promote skilled trades training, turning everyday vehicles into moving billboards for opportunity. When Aerie opened its doors in Wilmington, we were proud to install storefront signage that welcomed a national brand into our local retail landscape.

There are also the projects that may not make headlines but matter just as much. Small businesses launching their first location. Property owners reinvesting in historic buildings. Companies refreshing their branding to reflect a new chapter.

Taken together, this work represents what a local signage company can do when it is deeply connected to the community it serves.

Anchored in History, Looking Ahead: The Trust Building

One of the projects we are especially grateful to be part of right now is the Trust Building in downtown Wilmington.

This is not just another installation. It is an active, evolving project that reflects careful restoration, thoughtful development, and a belief in the continued growth of our downtown. As the building takes shape, our team is working alongside others behind the scenes to ensure the signage complements the architecture and honors the character of the structure.

Projects like this require patience and precision. The goal is never to compete with the building itself. It is to create something that feels like it has always belonged there. Something that enhances the experience at street level while respecting the history above it.

The Trust Building stands as a symbol of how downtown Wilmington continues to grow while honoring its roots. Being chosen to support this project is something we are proud of and grateful for.
