Our Story
The story of Port City Signs & Graphics began in 1948 during the post–World War II boom. Founded by Robert Barefoot as Port City Signs, the company started as an artisan sign-painting operation built on craftsmanship and service. Barefoot later passed the reins to his protégé Fred Maurer, who grew up in the trade and carried forward the company’s tradition of quality and reliability.
In 2008, a new chapter began when Sabrina Davis acquired the business. With her background in journalism, design, and marketing, she led the company’s transition into a modern, technology-driven manufacturer. The business was renamed Port City Signs & Graphics, reflecting expanded capabilities in wide-format digital printing, CNC routing, and custom fabrication. The company moved from its longtime Castle Street location to Oleander Drive, where it operated for 13 years, before relocating in 2021 to its current facility on Capital Drive.
